a real man
My grandfather and me, as near as I can tell taken in 1967.
I love my grandfather.
He’s been a solid influence in my life since I was just a baby. He’s been a man I could look up to—to idolize—when it seemed my life was full of men that didn’t work hard enough at being honest or honorable. I continue to to look up to him, to emulate him as much as I can. If I can be just a tenth the man he’s been, I’ll be happy. He’s shown me a path in life that’s kind and honest, loving and gentle. That’s not to say he hasn’t had his issues—we all do. He’s done his best to navigate life’s difficulties with genuine regard for those around him. These are things we could use a little more of in life.
Like I said, I love my grandfather.

You Grandfather is a great guy. It has been my luck and pleasure to know him over the years. You're a lucky man, Ciam Saywer, and you had a good role model. -WillMichael Busick, Nov 21, 03:41 AM:
I didn't know your grandfather was in "The Sound of Music"!! Why didn't you tell me? :) A good role model is so hard to find these days.commenting closed for this article
