books in 2003

I read a total of 29 books during 2003.

The first was Umberto Eco’s Baudolino, which I finished on January 15, 2003.

The last was Edward Whittemore’s Quin’s Shanghai Circus, completed on December 13th.

Of the 29 books, only one was non-fiction. I’d like to read more non-fiction in 2004. Still, my stated goal for 2003 was 25 books, and I’m pleased that I exceeded that number.

My favorite book of the year? That would have to be Jericho Mocaic by Edward Whittemore, an absolutely tremendous book—rich with historical detail and funny, heartbreaking characters.

Have you read "Jennifer Government," by Max Barry? If not, do so -- it's a hoot.

Sounds like an interesting book, thanks for the recommendation. I've added it to the list of possiblities... Currently reading a book on raven behavior and a book about Herge (of Tintin fame).

I want to borrow the Herge book when you're done! Check our Roger Corman and BB King's autobiographies. They're an easy and enjoyable read.
