driving miss daisy

So, being completely insane, I dragged Jo and Dexter to Coeur D’Alene, Idaho Saturday—a round-trip of just over 600 miles—to meet a possible sister for Dexter. And of course, that means we came home with a new dog.

She’s darling, but will need some time to get used to her new life. She’s clearly been mistreated—she’s emaciated and untrained in all respects—but she’s eager to please and clearly smart. Once she gets used to her new life she’ll be a great dog.

She’s a Plott Hound, the state dog of North Carolina (thus her name. ). They’re a hound, crossed from Coon Hounds and Blood Hounds and who know what else. Originally from Germany. Watch out for her nose. :-)

The picture of her and Dexter in the car is NOT posed. YAY!

Meet Daisy Duke.

Happily eating a greenie.

Concentrating on the greenie.

In the car on the way home.

Feeling sleepy.

She is as cute as a bug's ear. Dexter is fortunate to have found such a great sibling.

What a sweet looking dog! Congratulations on your new addition. How did you find out about her? Why did you choose her? I know what you mean about an animal adjusting to a new home/life. My new kitty cried for two days but now is clearly settled and fully owns the house. :)

My, my. She is cute, however and Dexter looks like he's found his best friend! Love, Vikki
